Mass Effect: Andromeda

Are you people high or something? Andromeda looks orders of magnitude better than any of the previous ME games. Mind you, that may not be saying much — especially considering the prowess of the Frostbite 3 engine — but the original ME trilogy had graphics that were only slightly superior to the PS2/Xbox generation.

Also, having played through a full playthrough of ME1 FemShep and on my ME2 playthrough as her, I can say with full confidence that Mark Meer is better. 👆

Goddess of the Voice Actresses >

Inquisition models were a disgrace to my eyes, these don't look anything like it.

Comparing ME to PS2 graphics is gross over exaggeration and you know it. Also, at least the humans in the previous Mass Effect games didn't all look like ****ing heroin addicts.

Maybe that's a plot point.

But you haven't played the game yet. You are just looking at trailers and then finding the specific animations to complain about.

Yeah I tried to say this to people concerning Inquisition's dog shit modeling and animations too, and boy that bit me in the ass. I have literally zero expectation that Ryder will suddenly not be a ****ing Dragon Age dwarf (is that what's going on? Is this game meant to merge the settings together into one universe?) on release.

Horizons: Zero Dawn has shit face animations as well.

...... go on?

Every Bioware game ever has shitty graphics. If the story and characters are compelling enough, if the mechanics are smooth enough, we'll get over the weird face
Like Blax said, it's not a big enough deal that I'm going to necessarily refuse to play the game, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend Bioware isn't being lazy and/or incompetent either.

I'm assuming it's a matter of resources. Maybe Bioware is unwilling to spend its budget on graphics improvements because they're focusing on replicating the franchise's traditional strengths. If the studio would focus too much on visual aesthetics then perhaps the broad branched-out storytelling would suffer. Not every studio can be Naughty Dog.

Anyone seriously shitting on the game for the faces is a giant loser. Like the ME games have never had these problems before and still came out great.

Not important at all.

"Animations aren't important! Anyone who disagrees with me as I blow Bioware cock is a loser!"

If you could seriously look at any of those above animations and claim that it's not a problem, you're either retarded or flat out wrong. Big enough to avoid playing the game completely? No. Big enough to more than warrant mention and criticism? For damn sure, yes.

Kingdom Come Deliverance, a ****ing indie game funded by Kickstarter, looks miles better then this shit, a massive AAA game funded by one of the biggest companies in the industry. I'm not aware of the precise budget of Andromeda, but 3 had a budget of $40 million. Don't ****ing tell me it's a budget issue.

Was that indie game nearly 60 gigabytes of content though? I'm no expert in video game development, but it seems there's always sacrifices to be made in the production process to meet some release schedule. It's a legitimate complaint, but not a dealbreaker by any means. As long as a compelling story is intact with interesting characters and fitting gameplay, the rough edges can go fuk themselves

It's an open world game, so it's frankly even more impressive.

Hey, I did say they looked slightly better. Yeah, the humans in the previous ME games, especially ME1, looked like leathery mannequins with textures so awful they genuinely looked like they belonged in the 6th gen(seriously, go ahead and compare some of the human models in ME to the models in Silent Hill 2, for example). And don't get me started on the environmental textures; some of the objects had textures so absurdly low-res, they wouldn't look out of place in Ocarina of Time.

Just play through the original trilogy again and pay close attention to stuff and you'll see how awful a lot of it looks.

Mass Effect 1 looks dated sure, but there's nothing at all wrong with 2's graphics.

For a game that's 7 years old, it looks perfectly fine to me, certainly much better then any game from the 6th generation. Did it set the standard for graphics at the time? No, but most games fail to reach that peak.

Mass effect 2 was the best looking game out of the OT and one of the best looking RPG of the 7th gen.

The only thing that matters is if its noticeable when you're playing. And even then, only if it's distractingly bad and not just kind of funny.

I mean sure, a mention but it really isn't that big of a deal. Most games have jankiness to them, especially massive RPG's like this one.

Even Witcher 3 had that ridiculous thing where you'd cut people in half and they only had 1 bisected model so they'd suddenly become a different person every goddamn time.

The fuk? Looks like a people-quilt

Now that's just lazy production quality. Old ass Conan (2007) video game for the X360 had were you could cut people in half and they remained the proper character, in two halves.

ME3 was actually really rushed and poorly made when you took a good look at it. They were using stick figures at points.

Remember how bad the journal was? I heard that was because they literally forgot to make one until right before launch.

The quest journal is one of the most infuriating things about ME3 whenever I replay it. Thankfully now I don't have to look at it as I've got most of the game memorized, but that really annoyed me during my first few playthroughs.
