Qui-Gon was trained by Dooku, who was one of the top swordsmen in the Jedi Order. That has to count for something. Also, he was far past his prime when he fought Maul. If this is Qui-Gon in his prime...Who knows because it has not really been documented how powerful he was in his prime. But Bandon was really unimpressive in my opinion. Just a weak attempt at a miniboss fight.

Traya, Sion and Nihilus were around at that point. Not to mention Vitiate's Empire.Plus, was he really the 2nd best? He was Malak's apprentice, but that doesn't mean he was actually his number dos.
Bandon's old official SW.com entry noted that he had killed "many Jedi" and that he was Malak's 2IC above all the Sith in the Empire.
Plus Trask is pretty BA. I don't know how he survived.
