I was thinking of Iran.

They are making their way east to the coast, they have just captured a air base in Syria and want to take a naval base. Now they have jets, and will soon have a naval forces.

What type of planes and in what condition do you imagine they're in that they've captured?

Exactly.

We should just bomb the whole world and start over.

ISS is growing and very quickly. People thought they were nothing a few months ago, now they are taking over Syrian air force bases and provinces, 1000's of people from different nations around the world are joining their ranks. They are not just some petty militia as the administration would have you believe.

That would seem logical🙂

As seen here they are recruiting people from around the world.

"A British rapper whose father is awaiting trial in Manhattan for a pair of US embassy bombings is a leading suspect in the barbaric beheading of American journalist James Foley, it was revealed on Friday.

Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary — who recently tweeted a photo of himself holding up a severed head — was among three Brits identified as possibly being the masked killer known as “John the Beatle.”
Bary, 24, is the son of an Egyptian-born militant who is awaiting trial on terror charges tied to the deadly 1998 bombings of embassies in Kenya and Tanzania."

It might actually be a good thing that the loonies are all converging to Iraq/Syria to join ISIL. Best if they're all grouped together.

Agreed, but we seen what happens when un challenged with these terrorist organizations. Case in point 9/11, they already have access to America.

“The biggest fear is that there are 10,000 to 12,000 foreign fighters that have joined ISIS and various estimates but many of them have Western passports,” Thornberry said on CNN.

Yea like the USA, even when I was over there, this type of army is extremely hard to take down permanently as seen in the last invasion.

A war vet. Deja Vu....

Good use of tax dollars, I'm not opposed to this in the slightest.

Based on what images have come out and statements by the Syrian Air Force (granted, not very reliable) most of the functioning aircraft were flown out before the base fell and the rest were destroyed either during the fight or by the base's defenders.

Even if they did capture a few functional attack jets, modern aircraft require so much maintenance and expertise that it would probably be a waste of ISIS's time and money to try to use them, and if they did they'd never pose a threat to the USAF or even the Syrian Air Force.

You probably think a jet just needs a pilot (hard enough to come by as it is for a group like ISIS), when in reality it needs a team of mechanics, a few guys to fuel it, and a shit load of spare parts, not to mention jet fuel and armaments.

As for them getting a navy, even if they captured the ENTIRE Syrian Navy they probably wouldn't pose much of a threat to any decent navy. They'd be more effective using speedboats than trying to become a conventional naval power.
