How's this for an opening to X3:
A warehouse or dock. Night. We open on a pair of boots, a body prone on the concrete, pan up what is clearly an X-uniform to 4 big parallel deep bloody "they won't get up from that" gashes across the back, and continue to the head. The face is hidden but the familiar twin peaks of hair let us know who the fallen X-man is (if we hadn't already guessed). To confirm this further we pan back to the wounds as they heal with a low gutteral growl.
Logan stands, rolls his shoulders, cracks his neck, then pauses, sniffs the air, cocks an ear to the wind. He smells or hears something, as he mutters something ending with "Bub" and starts to stalk. We follow. Multiple camera angles, over the shoulder, above as he moves between stacks of crates, boxes, machinery, a massive crane, close-up of his boots, extreme close-up of the claws slowly, silently, pushing through the knuckles as he gets closer to his quarry.
We see his target for the first time, a huge shadow, almost silhouette with just enough light to identify the golden mane, the broad back, the claws. Victor Creed. Logan readies himself to jump him, thus far having not alerted Sabretooth (who thinks he's finished him off, see earlier injury). Just as he is about to strike, another sound/smell distracts, they're not alone. Logan hesitates and Sabretooth notices his presence and turns to take advantage, land the first blow (or strike again, as it was his suckerpunch which gave Logan the initial wound). This is where our mystery third party enters the action. Casting herself off a pile of crates Deathstrike (what? I thought she was stuffed full of adamantium and therefore incapacitated?! Patience Grasshopper, all will be revealed!) hits them both and knocks them to the floor, landing with her own talons up to the wrist in each of their chests. Now comes a big, beautifully choreographed 3 way fight sequence. 1 on 1, 2 on 1, 3 for all, a lot of slashing and recovery etc. This ends with Deathstrike and Logan taking each other out of the equation, and Sabretooth poised to make the final, terminal, slashes. He raises his arms, and both are caught by silver carbonadium tentacles. Enter Omega Red, who, lucky us, has a grudge against all three of our aforementioned protagonists. He makes fairly short work of Sabretooth (who was taken by surprise, and had the best of the previous scrap), and turns to the others, who have had some time to recover. Cue more fighting, at ground level, on top of crates etc. At one point Omega Red has both of them trapped in his tentacles on top of a large stack of containers, Logan fights free and gets hit for six by the tentacle he just escaped from for his trouble. He just gets a claw into the end of the arm of the crane (think Statue of Liberty in X1) and cling on. Omega Red is contricting, crushing the life out of Deathstrike and doesn't notice The arm of the crane swinging round, bringing with it Logan, who boots him, and consequently her, off the top of the containers to the concrete below. They lay still, it's over. Logan descends to ground level, out of breath. He retracts his claws and lights a cigar.
A slow clap reverberates around, Logan doesn't acknowledge it. The camera pans to find where it is coming from. As it does so the background kinda fades and washes away like a watercolour to reveal blank silver walls. A circular door is open and Xavier rolls in applauding. The door closes, on it is stencilled "Danger Room".
"Congratulations Logan", he throws him a towel. A short conversation occurs. The doors open again and they leave. Doors close, on them is "X3" logo.
Or something like that!
i like the action sequence, its a cool concept with the 3 way fight but i dont think sabretooth would just leave like that believing that hes finished wolverine off, he knows its not that easy to take out wolverine, he would hang around and cause more damage until he knew that wolverine wouldnt be able to stand. Other than that, i likey 😄
Maybe he went searching for the more pressing threat, an uninjured Deathstrike. And anyway, it's the Danger Room, it can be programmed any way they like for training purposes. That could be what Logan and the Prof are discussing, that Logan didn't think it was real enough, and Prof was saying he didn't think Logan was ready for more intensity?
Still an explosive way to start the movie, and get in Omega Red, a good enemy but maybe not one worth spending a whole X film on.
Oh, and Dark Phoenix saga should be X4. X3 should be Madelyne Pryor and Sinister. Cyclops falls for her, she tries to rot X-men from within. And Gambit could be introduced as one of Sinister's hencemen, then change sides towards the second half of the film, see the light etc. Sinister and Pryor still have the upper hand though, and only the intervention of The Hellfire Club (whose Black Queen is Phoenix) saves the day, setting up X4 to be X-men versus Hellfire Club for Jean Grey, and maybe introduce Emma Frost too.
I agree with the fact that the movie should start off with the danger room, i did a post on it ages ago.....went something like, danger room, students who we want to see but will never really get a big part in the movies, wolverine and the others with them, loads of powers being used and sentinals, lots of sentinals 😄 Then it all turns off and we find out its a training session. That way we get to see Danger room, sentinals and other mutants 😄
And i'm not the biggest Cyclops fan, but if they did do Madelyne Pryor then they could perhaps work in a decent fight between Cyclops and Havok, Cos they've kinda had to have Cyclops in the films, but he has been a very bit part player, an also ran in the Logan Show!
Or have Cyclops go off to get over his grief at the loss of Jean, hook up with Apocalypse for a bit (whose Horseman Death is Archangel). X3 is "Search For Cyclops", featuring Havok as the prerequisite Summers brother (who they hunt down to help find Scott). In this Madelyne Pryor makes a brief appearance, maybe they find him shacked up with her. X4 is "Dark Phoenix Saga" where they accidentally discover the real Jean whilst investigating The Hellfire Club, or even Emma Frost's Hellions. Cyclops forgets all about Madelyne who gets a strop on and leaves, Havoc goes with to comfort her, and they both get cosy with Sinister. This would be X5 by the way, which follows roughly the "Inferno" storyline, lots of beasties and a bigger role for Colossus as he tries to save his little sister Magick. In X6 the government's knee jerk reaction to the monsters and mutants warring all over the planet in X5 is to police the place with Sentinels. These Sentinels provide the X-men with their toughest challenge to date, and can only be overcome with help. This assistance comes from fairly major crossover cameos from 2 other Marvel movie franchises which are up and running by now, "Cable" and "The New Mutants", led by Samuel Guthrie/Cannonball. And by X7 hopefully Rogue will have come out of her shell enough to be the sassy sexy superheroine we all know and love, and will star in a flashback prequel type movie showing her battles with Ms Marvel where she initially got her powers of flight and superstrength. At certain points in the course of these movies the geeky and eagle-eyed of us will spot Deadpool lurking in the shadows on more than one occasion, for once keeping his motormouth shut and just kicking ass.
I will resume on X8 at a later date!
Having seen how well they've made-up the guy out of The Shield to be Ben Grimm for the Fantastic Four movie I think the best bet for Beast in future X films is to get this fella in on the act. I know he was the trucker in X1, but you won't even recognise him, even though he does look a bit Beast like.

I might be wrong, but that guy made Beast's voice in X-Men TAS
My point exactly, and with characters like Gambit and Beast the voice is all important. At least for me anyway, the voice from TAS is kinda ingrained.
(And I know 2 different people did Gambit at different times)
And I also reckon he could look good as Beast. He might be getting on a bit now, but a) It would be good to have a character that bridges the age gap between Xavier himself and his "students" (the eldest being Logan, who ages verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slowly) and b) Any stunts, trademark agile leaps etc, are gonna be done by a stuntman or cgi anyway so that won't matter.
