plots, people, and various other things
OMG I just found this thing on a website, I was looking into finding some DVD's of the cartoons, James Howlett's father died when he was young, and he renamed himself Logan!! Thats Wolverine. He's always had a "beastly instinct", explaining Strykers lil nickname for him.
They have a massive opportunity to tangle a bunch of different storylines together. Like the Phoenix Saga (includes Dark Phoenix). I think that this would be a great thing to start on. Just think, one of the first few shots of X3 being Alkalai lake boiling and steaming and they zoom into an area where the golden phoenix shape is moving (flying or "thrashing"😉 and then Jean (phoenix) emerges from under the water. Then throughout the movie they could show her on her "journey" back "home" and her trying to control her powers, but her powers overcome her sanity and she becomes Dark Phoenix. hell, this could be a whole seperate spinoff!!! and the last shot of the movie is her attacking................hmm lets say the white house? or the X-men. in this time that the movie is taking place (filling in my massive gaps), they could introduce Angel as Bobby's friend all along. He comes to the school, Bobby recognizes him (except he has his wings belted down, like in the comics and cartoons) and they start to re-kindle their friendship. Jubilee and Colossus could FINALLY join in with the rest of the team, along with Shadowcat. I still need more Ideas on other mutants. I think that another great Idea for this master plot, is the sentinels; plural, more than one! HULLO people! there are hundereds of them not just one. And I'm so ticked I can't remeber who started the sentinels, I'll have to start watching the cartoons again! I've heard that a synposis has already been semi-revealed. Humans start to play with evolution. Great idea, but ya know...........it's not sounding so appealing. With Phoenix being all spacy and crap, they've elimintated that opportunity for themselves. It could continue along the lines with just farther evolution in Jean. They've sorta been focusing on Magneto as the main "bad guy". Now if they add Phoenix there you go given baddy. Apocolypse would be THE bad guy to have after Phoenix is straighted out. He could be the main one in X3 or X4. but this is about X3. There are so many odd ...............storylines in the comics and cartoons, that it would be impossible to get the WHOLE history of the X-men series on film. It would take at least 50 years of back to back filming, lol. This is all I just thought of in reading the first 15 pages of Posts, so I hope ya'll will help me and add to my ideas!
It really seems like they are digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole, having to introduce all these different characters by bringing them in through the school. Why not have people join up with them like Nightcrawler did, such as White Queen did in the comics. Some ideas for these type of mutants are Gambit (he could come and go as he pleases), Beast could be introduced as the new "school doctor" (among other roles). About Rogue getting her "superhuman" powers. Great Idea!!!! Marvel Girl (who was Jean Grey in the early comics?) could be like hitting on Bobby or something like that and Rouge gets all P/Oed and attacks her and kills her sucking out her life force and her powers as well. Again another story plot. some cameo parts could be Forge, he's like the X-men's repair man, Psylocke could be a good cameo for a part of a movie, like if they follow the idea of the whole "humans controlling evolution" thing, she could be a great accesory to the team. I don't think that Beast will go Blue at all, because it's so, animated, even with the advances in make-up (poor Bacic, he'd be in Make-up for days!!) and in computer animation, it would be tacky. Pyro should be part of some evil force against the X-men. You know these movies could be so hard to make because they all lead of on a subject outside of the last 2 plots.

Phoenix comes back and whatever. She's weak so she stays near the lake pretty much, trying to get strength and get rid of that sickening feeling. As she does this, eventually in the movie she goes nuts and is powered up by the evil phoenix powers, and can just fly the hell home. Meanwhile, the other X-Men are setting up a recruitment for people that haven't taken a side yet, evil or good. One of the main people in this assignment is Beast. They stumble upon Gambit, who is a bit of a rogue. Speaking of Rogue, her powers have to increase, just as the others. Anyway, Gambit and Wolverine have a lot of arguments, and when they have to battle Jean, Gambit wants to kill her while the others don't. Wolverine expresses true leadership skills by working with Cyclops in the fact that they both are responsible for the woman they love. Blah blah blah, Pyro and them should do something but I'm too tired to think. In the end, Beast helps Jean out and she turns back to normal, and then we end off with something like a deal being cut, where we introduce the sentinels or if you wanna go another route, introduce Apocalypse/Juggernaut or another threat. That way, if theres no other ones, we know the story continues, and if there is, boom, we have a plot.

Fate, you are fast becoming my favorite person in these boards. I may not always agree with you, but i like the way your mind works sometimes.
I agree with you about the 2nd stage of character development. Lets get the new blood going and use the originals simply as plot support.
I have to disagree though on the leadership thing with him cooperating with cyclops. I would like to see them have it out eventually. Hey, once a bouncer, always a bouncer i guess.
Finally, i need you to explain more about the recruitment thing. What is driving them to do this? Why now? Are you thinking that Xavier is going to acknowledge the war to come finally?

and halle berry is almost as bad a storm as marsden is a cyclops...
and she aint the most powerful, but she's close...
and the movie has to revolve around the x-men... that means all of them, not storm, not wolverine...
and sk... if rogue isnt getting her ms. marvel powers then i wouldn't mind her being taken out...
