Right now they aren't saying anything official, because of course, if X3 tanks (which is like impossible but there's not a 100% chance for anything), then that'll be it. If X3 beats out X2 or X1, whichever one got the higher gross, then they may just act on those contracts that Vinnie Jones was talking about. He's stated several times that he's contractually obligated to TWO sequels. Now, there are always contracts that just basically become null and void. Some people are contracted to do a Hulk sequel, a Daredevil sequel, a Catwoman sequel, etc, but the only one of them that looks like it has any future is Hulk, and that's an IF.
X4 could very well be made....but we can't possibly know that for sure until we already have X3 out in the theatres. Personally I'd like to see 3 more, preferrably with the regular cast, but I mean, X-Men is a series that has a lot of storylines that you could do, more than a lot of other superheroes. I can't see 6 films being made about Captain America or Iron Man. 6 Spidey films, 6 Batman films, 6 Superman films, 6 X-Men films, and that's about it. Gambit hasn't even been introduced lol, and you still have one of the biggest guns out there - Apocalypse.
Jackman Shows X-Men Clips at ShoWest
Source: Notfabio March 17, 2006
'Notfabio' tells us that Hugh Jackman showed three clips from X-Men: The Last Stand at ShoWest in Las Vegas on Thursday night.
Said he has seen the film and as cliche as it sounds is easily the best.
He reiterated that this is absolutely the last X-Men film. I'd imagine he did not count Wolverine and Magneto spinoffs in this, but he didn't mention them either.

Well you can never be sure. Jackman seems to be a really good sport about things. From what I heard recently, he even makes a cameo in Superman Returns as a favor to Bryan Singer, and so far I haven't heard him complain saying something like "I want to move on after X3" like a lot of actors do. Jackman, I think, besides being a great actor, is showing that he's a good guy on top of that recently. Instead of saying "well after this contract, see ya, I'm not gonna be typecast", he's staying faithful, but in order to prevent himself from being just Wolverine for his whole career, he's taking other offers like the one that he has with Bale and Nolan soon. I think overall, if there is an X4, Jackman might do it, but we nothing's set in stone yet obviously. As of right now I would say an X4 is unlikely, but possible. Don't set up the reels quite yet, but don't count out the ability of a production company to say "X3 rocked at the box office, let's do another".
