Trading Punches: Flash II & Superman

Two great heroic sacrifices.
How would they have differed if the characters were switched out?
Please suspend disbelief at the below scenarios, and buy that things have worked out to make the battles take place.
PC Superman in scenario 1, full power Flash, as he was brought back a few years ago, in scenario 2.

Instead of Anti Monitor kidnapping Flash, setting up the heroic sacrifice in Crisis On Infinite Earths #8, he kidnaps Superman instead.
Could Superman have destroyed the antimatter cannon? And would he have died doing so?

During Doomsday's first appearance, Superman is not on earth, but DD goes on the march regardless.
With no heroes powerful enough to stop him anywhere to be found, Barry Allen comes out of retirement.
Could he have beaten Doomsday in the heart of Metropolis as in Superman #75? And would he have died doing so?
