7/10 from me for the sequel

Still enjoyed it tho and i knew it was going to be different with the changing of the director.

I liked this better than the first, though that isn't saying much, as I thought the first was average at best.

The human element is still annoying and poorly scripted, and the humor never really lands, but the action is definitely a step-up. The other Jaegers are actually given a moment to shine, as well, which means the fights don't feel as monotonous. The plot is pretty thin, but again, possesses more substance than the original.

Overall, I'd give this a 6/10.

John Boyega saved this from being a total train wreck. He's far better than Hunnam was in the original. The dialogue was still weak but not as teeth shatteringly bad as the first. Action was excellent but the plot was horrendous. 5/10

I caught it with my son last Sunday, found it to be shit to meh start to finish. Boyega is a better actor than Hunnam, agreed, but the thrill of seeing giant robots punching giant monsters, which really drove the entertainment in the first one, just wasn't there this 2nd time around and that's all these films have.

First one made me feel like I was eleven again watching a monster-destruction flick. This one bored me thoroughly. I'd say 3/10.

Reminded me of Skyline. All shiny lights and big explosions but no soul to it at all. At least in the first you could see Del Toro's love for monster movies in it. This? Nothing. The only good news is that it seems to be utterly bombing. It only opened this week over here and there's was only about a dozen people in the showing I went to despite being 2 for 1 night.

i actually enjoyed it. it had giant monsters. it had giant robots. they fight. thats all i expected and hoped for and it delivered lol

The film was better than I was expecting. Not as world building as the original and a bit lacking on the kaiju side of things. Action is still decent, the plot is predictable and the characters are bland. It has some good moments.

Nothing ground breaking but it's a serviceable sequel.
