Well I got around seeing it and while nothing remarkable I still found the movie enjoyable. I mean all I really wanted to see was Dracula do cool magic vampire shit and this flick didn't disappoint on that front.
Though one thing bothers me about the movie

When Vlad gains full access to his vampire powers, why doesn't he just use his newly acquired weather manipulation powers to kill the Turks will lightning or better yet use the giant bat swarm again.

1. maybe they can only feed off live humans. killing them with the bats or thunder would leave a horde of thirsty vampires.2. he was afraid of accidentally harming his son.
3. he promised his people they could have vengeance. so allowing them to feed and torture the turks was exactly that.

Why would you want him to use the bat swarm again? That would get repetitive.

you're telling me that there was a good reason for Dracula to not kill all the Turks the first time he used the bat swarm or, when gaining his weather manipulation power, to just mow through the army and take his son. He showed no problem taking 1000 soldiers by himself so I'm trying to see why his wife's death and the final confrontation couldn't be completely avoided based on what we saw
He could have ended the war by killing the Sultan the first day he gained his powers. The Turks had no idea what he was capable of and he could have easily flown in, killed the Sultan and top ranking soldiers and called it a day.
But then there wouldn't have been a film and it's not the first time we've seen CIS/PIS to further a film along.
Yeah, major lead role depowering. I was looking forward to Vlad becoming damn near invincible and just reigning supreme, regardless of how many peeps he saved. I also kinda wanted to see another person at his power level Mortal Kombat his ass but maybe for the sequel. Charles Dance though, mang. Dude goes together with vampires like booze in my gut. So, all the time is what I'm saying.
