Where did Savage find Maul's lightsaber?

Where the hell did Savage find the still functioning end of Maul's saber. I mean seriously. How on earth did he find it?

Perhaps Savage found it in Maul's cave thing before they left for Dathomir.

Pretty sure Maul just left it somewhere, and Savage found it while following his trail across the galaxy.
