Khan is experienced in all things combat related and doesn't need allies like Riddick does.
Khan is too tactical to allow Riddick to get the drop on him. Vaako oneshotted him. Awesome.

Khan used hand to hand when he discarded his phaser rifle as well as knives.
Khan is far superior to vaako who crushed him in a battle and then outwitted him at the beginning of Riddick.
