I'm just rolling my eyes at his unsolicited advice. Not entirely sure what kind of changes one needs to make to get better at taking criticism.
And that's just a random google result.
Your other problem(sticking to deadlines) has an even easier solution.

She could be the next Jk Rowling or GRRM for all I care, but that doesn't erase the fact that wasted potential is still wasted potential.
Hmm, like I said for me it depends. For example I got a lot of enjoyment out of my Japan trip with Sarah and would not want to miss it. Similarly however I continue to enjoy and be happy using my MacBook, since I have to use Windows for work that happiness also returns every time I get to go home and use a good OS.
I've been trying to cut down on crappy material possessions, trinkets and things I don't really want or need, and instead get fewer, but quality, things I will actually treasure and that will improve my happiness consistently.
Yeah I get that. For example, I wouldn't trade my camera for the world, but it was definitely more expensive than it could have been. I used to also really love collecting perfumes, and had a huge collection. Unfortunately when I decided to move I couldn't very well take them with me, ended up giving pretty much 90 percent of them away shrug
I was just looking at my clothing the other day and it's like I always wear the same things, I could really do with less to be honest.

Yeah, I don't really collect anything anymore. I used to collect comics. But I've found that the less stuff I have the better I actually feel (probably to a degree, I'll not go the under 100 items route of some minimalists). I'm looking into getting a camera soon, I sold my old one on ebay, and now want to get a smaller and better one. But it'll cost a bit. I think it would be worth it though, especially since I want to travel more.
Perfumes are a good thing to make you feel happy though, I think. I like wearing cologne from time to time.
And clothing is another thing, obviously it's somewhat different for most men, but I really cut down what I had. I have a pretty neat closet now, and I don't vary that much in what I wear anyways.
I don't know it's weird, it actually feels like a thrill to get rid of stuff in some way.
Yeah, I'm so attached to my camera because I use it when I travel. I suppose I've given it a lot of value in my life. I do sometimes wish it was smaller and less bulky though. It takes up a lot of space, and I hate checked luggage, I really only ever travel with a carry-on.
Yeah, I do really love them, even now. It makes me sad to think about giving them away sometimes, but at least they didn't just expire in my room back home, at least someone is still enjoying them.
Yeah, I think it's easier to have less in a way. I don't really spend a lot of time worrying about what to wear, or freaking out about my stuff being safe etc.
We have the same priorities there. I just got myself a really nice travel bag, that fits the carry on specifications (in the US anyways, Europe can be a bit more stingy). And that's also why I sold my bigger camera. What model camera do you have?
Exactly, the people probably got a lot of enjoyment out of them, and that's nice to know. I really like giving people things I treasured as presents.
YES! The stuff being safe thing is so true, when I have too much I am alway worried about losing things (or having them stolen). That's a huge part of why I'm trying to minimize what I have. When we moved last August I also took that as an opportunity to sort out a lot of stuff I didn't want anymore. And I'm now actually pretty close to my goal, some more things to sort through, but nothing too big.
