Forget where I read it and it was easily 9-10 months ago, but in an interview Miller said this will be about a 2hr chase scene with character development and backstory shown through flashbacks and cut scenes.
edit: Found it, http://www.mtv.com/news/1882851/george-miller-max-fury-road-110-minute-chase-scene/

I have seen the old Mad Max movies. My point was that if this is a a sequel, then a small homage to the desert chase is ok but to redo what was already done in that film doesn't make too much sense to go that route again.
If this is a remake then it makes much more sense.
Anyhow, whatever the case, im sure it will be good.

It's not a sequel or really a reboot per se, it's a revision of the character/story and I think the events of the first film stand while we get a retake of the story after that going forward.
Miller's said he has scripts for two more flicks should Fury Road be a commercial success. Hardy is contracted for a total of four films, should it be viable.

That's why Thunderdome was always considered the weakest link.
Everybody wanted & expected more car chases & not Max walking around for most of the movie.

Actually I hated the first Mad Max. So its good this new once seems to be inspired by the sequel.

Ha ha that's Ffi!Real name Roger Ward...believe it or not I worked alongside him a long long time ago!
We worked together in Telesales for Amex. He had a great sounding voice & did alot of commercial voice-overs.

You need to understand the 1st movie was made on a small budget as a stand alone movie.
George Miller the director never knew he created an iconic cult figure in Max until years later with fans wanting to know what happened to Max when he drove off at the end...
