Anime Critics Choice Awards

Let's face it, there are so many great Anime series, and movies out there that the average person may never see, or even hear of. So I thought that it would be a good idea for people to share what they know or have seen. Years ago, I saw an OVA (Original Version Anime) called the The Hakkenden, and thought that it was a great series about displaced siblings, and their roles in future events. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hakkenden Many people may never have heard of this series, and it's a shame because I enjoyed it very much.

So are there any movies, or series that you guys would like to give mention to, and that you think should get an award for great story? This way, people that enjoy Anime or Manga can get a chance to see and enjoy them as well.

I just watched the Record of Lodoss War. Not really a long series, but pretty epic considering how old it is. Very good mini.

BTW this is just to give people an idea of what is actually good out there, as opposed to taking a chance, and buying something only to find out that you wasted your money, and time. I was just hoping that some of you guys knew your stuff when it came to anime, and could pitch in to make this an anime guide of sorts.

Oooooo reminds me of Five Star Stories 🙂

Just discovered Blade Soul. Not too bad.

Lol really? well the first episode was decent. I didn't expect it to take a huge dive.

Yup. I enjoyed the first half of the series, the other half was disappointing. That's what I get for expecting to much from a series, that was adapted from an online game.

Have anyone seen Shinsekai yori? One of my favorite series for 2013.

Thanks, and I've considered trying Guyver but I have yet to get around to it myself.

Also, be careful posting streams and shit. I'm not sure if you could get in trouble doing so, but it seems like the kind of thing that might do so.

Oh... I didn't know that you could get into trouble for that type of thing since it's free and all. I'll ask around to see if I am allowed. Thanks for the heads up.

You guys should check out Tiger & Bunny, it's a 25 episode anime (+ two anime movies) about superheroes.

Buddy of mine recommended that to me. But I'm lazy.

It's pretty good imo. You should check it out whenever you have the time and feel like starting a new anime.

Also if this thread extends to manga as well then Vagabond (from the guy who did Slam Dunk. It's a philosophical sword fighting manga set in the 16th century - ongoing), Shin Angyo Onshi (personal favorite manga, very similar to Berserk - finished), Vinland Saga (based on Vikings - ongoing), and Blade of the Immortal (about an immortal samurai - finished) are some of my favorites that are not all that well known.

I've been recommending Vinland Saga for what must be years by now. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's probably my second favorite manga.

Yeah, Vinland is pretty solid. It's probably my third favorite after Shin Angyo Onshi and Berserk.

There is an anime movie for Shin Angyo Onshi, have you seen it? If its good, I'm probably sticking with the movie.

I haven't seen it but I've heard that it's horrible and only covers the first 5 or so chapters (and the manga has a slow start so you can imagine).

Hareluya II Boy and Kyo Kara Ore Wa are both awesome anime series.
