But Maul have been defeated by Sidious in a fight. Thanaton have nothing that puts him on Sidious's level.

Thanaton have power no mortal can defend themself against. Maul despite being cut in half did not had corporeal immortality.

Maul have survived Sidious' Force lightning which is more powerful than anything Thanaton had ever done. ritual or not Thanaton cannot compare to the jedi Maul have faced. Not to mention Maul will obviously had his double bladed lightsaber for this fight 😮‍💨

But Thanaton have lightning that is more powerful than anyone else except Emperor Vitiate who have been hyped as god in Legends. Thanaton have also been hyped as "supremely powerful" and "possessing insurmountable strength" in an encyclopedic medium. Sidious is nowhere near Thanaton in lightning application.

Thanaton's lighting is supremely powerful. No mortal can survive it. Only the greatest sith lord in generations have this ability. Jedi that faced reconstituted Sith Empire have HoT, Barsen'thor, Satele Shan, and Revan. Jedi of this time are stronger than canon PT Jedi.

This is not even a debate.

Maul's strong point is lightsaber combat and this duel is unlikely to reach this point because Thanaton gives higher priority to use of Force powers during combat situations. Maul have no viable defense against formidable powers of Thanaton and will loose.

But yeh.... Thanaton. TCW Maul would stomp, but TPM solely focused on pure physical victories and was very overconfident.
