"irony"The scene was basically:
Thanos: 'Give me the gem!'
Ronan: 'No, I don't need you and I'm not scared of you; I will keep the gem for myself, loser.'
Thanos: *raqe-quits off the screen*
Ronan without the gem wasn't portrayed as more powerful than Thor, who has 3 films worth of feats. You didn't pay attention, kickballer.
That is just your opinion which is contradictory to marvels official stance as well as others opinions.

I thought the portrayal of Thanos was just fine. I got the vibe that he was well above Ronan and the characters felt that way too (and they were afraid of Ronan if that says anything).
Here is Kevin feige stance.
"But we wanted to showcase that there’s a guy behind the guy behind the guy. The Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back, [behind] Darth Vader. So we wanted to see a little bit more of him, a little bit of attitude. See him, and hear him for the first time. And just to get — which is one of my favorite shots in the whole movie — him leaning back on his throne and smirking, which he does on every cover of every Thanos comic book, which is cool."
Ronan was portrayed as more formidable and didn't even notice Drax unlike Thor who has been humiliated by Kurse, Hulk, etc.
