BBC recently interviewed the rap duo Run the Jewels who were in Ferguson at the time that the grand jury declined to charge the cop. Killer Mike made the argument that the Ferguson Riots "worked" for Ferguson because after the riots there's actually been changes with the resignation of the police chief and the addition of a few new black city councilmen. But the most interesting bit of his argument was that our national identity begins with a riot of sorts (the Boston Tea Party).
The problem with that argument is these riots were not meant to enact change. Those people didn't care about Michael Brown, they cared about having what in their mind was now a valid excuse to steal and burn shit.
So I don't think Ferguson should be held up as an example of how to get changes done. People need to know this type of reaction is just not acceptable. You don't get to indulge in your criminal tendencies whenever a member of the black race is wronged by a cop.

There were no comparable protests because what caused the Ferguson protests was not a factor in the OJ case.

They're also ignoring the fact that Brown's death was 100% justified and wasn't murder. The death of the two white people OJ killed was undeniably murder. But that's libs for ya. They love to leave important details out to suit their own argument. 👆

EDIT - I see he was mentioned... but his circumstances were completely different. He's not the standard black and low income demographic.
