HELP! Couldnt get to NZ Xtras Casting, Can I still apply?

CAN ANYONE HELP???

I DESPERATELY wanted to get to NZ (from Australia) for the Xtras Casting of LOTR today (9/5/03) as I have the Rohan look they advertised for - tall, nordic, blonde hair, blue eyes, beard etc.

Unfortunately my wife just had a baby so I CAN'T be there today... does anyone know if there's any other way of auditioning, or sending my details & a pic via email etc... or even contacting them in NZ if you have a number? I have had no previous acting experience or anything - is that a problem?

I would be very grateful to anyone who could give me advice or contact details for the NZ casting group who are organising this. Has anyone else got the same problem?

Dude they cast extras from agencies anyway. You have to be invited to auditions. + they finished the films already.

uh excuse me, but people from Oz were invited, over the radio, to come and audition for extras parts in NZ which were being casted yesterday... i know they've filmed the bulk of it already, now they're just doing extra scenes for background etc. They wanted people from "off the street" basically as they reckoned they were having problems getting the look they needed. Can anyone out there actually HELP with any REAL info instead of just taking up space with personal comments? would be appreciated... thanks 🙂

Well they held auditions on Sat but I think you still may have a chance. I don't have the contact details on me but I will try and get them to you ASAP. heres the story for all of you who did not believe Troy.

They are a Nordic-looking race – tall and statuesque with long, blonde or red hair, or, for the men, bald with beards. Men aged over 16 and women over 55 are particularly sought. Extras needed to be able to work at short notice and would get between two and six days' work from May 20 till the end of June.

Interesting faces were crucial to the look of the film. "Peter is a director who really likes character in people's faces. The background is hugely important because it finishes off the scene. You might be focusing on the main characters but if you have great-looking extras, then the whole scene works."

The casting call is next Saturday at Lane Park Community Auditorium in Upper Hutt, New Zealand between 11am and 3pm
