Heres the thing about Mephisto...
He almost always doesnt fight to kill his opponents; doing so would ruin his chances of ever gaining ones soul (as per Doctor Strange) and the souls of powerful heroes villian seem to be quite valuable to these other dimensional demons/devil-like beings...
So with that said, fights against Mephisto are more about him trying to break your will and corrupt you oppossed to simply beating you down...
As zopzop correctly pointed out, he could physically beat this team up without effort whenever he wants...
Mephisto is the type that would rather "lose" to an opponent and maintain a chance of getting his/her soul in the future rather than kill an opponent and forfeit the opportunity to claim that soul forever...
In conclusion, if its his goal to just beat them down or kill them, Mephisto 10/10, if hes trying to break and corrupt them, then he fails to get Thor and Strange 10/10...
The others might not be so fortunate...
Iron Man has vices and is weak to women, Hulk (unless its a smart Hulk) is weak to Betty...
Not sure about Black Bolt; I honestly havent read up on him too much...

Not exactly the right context. If your referring the 100 issue of defenders. Mephisto and Thog, Satannish etc were all referred to as manifestations of Satan.

Satan and his other manifestations were trying to win the souls of the heroes while Hell was being made on earth. Mephisto tempting Clea, Valyrie and Surfer with his own ideas of their personal heaven for their soul while other manifestations worked on others. The end result was of course making Strange and the rest of the defenders break their solemn vow to save Hellstrom from sacrificing himself to prevent hell on earth. Said breach making their souls that much more attainable
Granted this is from a Hellstrom fanboy who likely saw it more from his viewpoint
