Darach lost to malgus due to fatigue. Darach that isn't tired out can hold his own against two capable duelists at the same time.
That being said Cin Drallig was by all indications, a very skilled duelist. Shitty lightsaber wielders don't get called battle master. And his best student was able to stalemate Anakin for a period of time.

Nah, the moment baby Malgus went into rage mode he overwhelmed him in seconds. Drallig>Darach.
I'm going to go with everyone else who noted he was probably running on full throatle to keep up with the two vs one, and was simply too fatigued when Malgus got a second wind.

In real life, there's disadvantages, but frankly in SW it seems like everyone should duel-wield, with only rare exception (those that heavily use the force and need a free hand, those who use lightwhips, and those who use double-bladed swords).

My headcanon is that in technical aspect he was very very good, and he was a fantastic teacher, but didn't have a lot of force omph and only normal physical stats, so he'd create students stronger than himself.
