I will provide a argument.
While Manthing may seem to been punk out recently, the last showing he had was vs a Ghost rider, and considering GRs are by powerset perfect counter to Man Thing, its not that bad of a showing.
Man Thing is a being who has beaten Fear lords, Hell Lords, and other super beings time and again. He is like Swamp Thing that can regen instantly as long there is a earth he can touch. He can emit Empathy to cause mental emotions people normally would not have. He can use the plants around him to attack. He has Hulk Strength. Best of all he can one shot anyone with Burning Touch. MT also has the ability to teleport anywhere through space, time, and multiverse thanks to his powers of the nexus.
Swamp Thing. not a expert on this guy, but seen scans where Swamp thing already beaten a angry Superman, Captain Atom, and others before. So.....
Ghost Rider. As long this is angel of vengeance versions (as in GR going all out) then he can solo. His Hell Fire allows for instant unlimited Regen. He can withstand hits from a piss off Thor with no damage. GR Hell Fire is so powerful it had one shot Man Thing of all people, and the Hell Fire burns the soul as much as the physical body. GR also has access to Nearly Unbreakable Hell Fire Chains. These Chains have held Hulk, Hell Lords, and other Ghost Riders without ever breaking. GR best weapon is the Penance Stare which makes you feel all the pain you caused, and I mean physical as well mental pain, to be returned back to you. The only way to beat GR is with powerful magic or holy weapons. Recently GR took on Dr. Strange, Thor, Wanda, Man Thing, and the rest of the Avengers with no problem. The guy regularly beats Hell lords in their own realm.
In short there is no way for Team one to win with out powerful magic or at the very least Cosmic Powers.
They cannot win.

GR has beaten Mephisto in his own realm as well outside it. Surfer lost to Mephisto outside his realm pretty handily and Surfer with Firestar lost to Mephisto in his realm.
Add to this Surfer has a hard time with Thor. GR took on Thor, Scarlet Witch, Doc Strange, Man Thing, and the rest by himself without losing.
Surfer is not cutting it against GR who can only be harm by Magic or Holy weapons.

Surfer at his best is Hell Lord level? I Guarantee you I can show GR High ends that trump SS High Ends.
Also its a fact only Magic or Holy harms a Spirit of vengeance. I say SOV and not Human Control GR as Human Control GR are Mid Meta. Vengeance, Blaze, Ketch, whates her name are all Human Control GRs. Zarathos, Nobel Kale, Caleb are all SOV controlled GRs.
GR has two switches. Human control, or if we go with a serious GR then SOV control.
In short I can post for a fact better feats on the part of GR than Surfer can show or has shown. Also again Magic and Holy are not within Surfer's power. GR will regen instantly any damage like Mephisto, Blackheart, ect.
