TCW Maul/Count Dooku vs Darth Vader ROTJ/Luke ROTJ

Started by Oneness2 pages

Maul mauls Luke, Vader has the upper-hand on Dooku and Maul but with Dooku team 1 has the slight advantage.

Team 1 takes this. Vader is the most powerful here, and could probably ragdoll Maul in a Force fight, but not Dooku, who is more comparable to Vader and slihtly more skilled.

Luke is a non-factor here, honestly, and would be stomped by both Maul and Dooku with TK.

Not only that, but he only contended with Vader because the latter was holding back a lot, which seems to be confirmed by George Lucas:

"In coming back to see Yoda we have to figure out Luke's training and the fact that he never finished his training and obviously now he's got a big question he wants answered. There is a point where the hero has to be left on his own 2 feet without anyone there to help him. And you can sort of have him be in a different place for something, but at some point you have to say now all the props have been taken away and he has to face the evil monster alone. In this case the scene established that the evil monster is actually his Father, and he's going to have to do it on his own, and that he's not really equipped to do it. He was too impatient, he didn't finish his studies, and now he's going to be HALF Trained to face a difficult physical and emotional challenge."

--Return Of The Jedi Audio Commentary.

Lucas is clearly talking about a difficult emotional and physical challenge that Luke is not equipped to face and win, which indicates that he would be unable to beat or even contend with a Vader who is actually going for the kill.

Because otherwise there is no way Luke could fight his father as an equal, unless the latter lowered himslef to the former's level. Not to mention that Luke was amped by Force Rage, while Vader was conflicted.

In the end team 1 takes this with moderate difficulty. Luke would be stomped, and together, Maul and Dooku are just too much for Vader, both duelling wise and Force wise.
