Yoda

Could Yoda use lightning without going to the dark side?

Electric Judgement sure, but no Jedi can use full Force Lightning, as described by Darth Plagueis:

"A Jedi sufficiently strong in the Force can be trained to produce a facsimile, but not true Sith lightning, which, unabated, has the power not only to incapacitate or kill, but to physically transform the victim. Force lightning requires strength of a sort only a Sith can command because we accept consequence and reject compassion. To do so requires a thirst for power that is not easily satisfied. The Force tries to resist the callings of ravenous spirits; therefore it must be broken and made a beast of burden. It must be made to answer one's will. But the Force cannot be treated deferentially. In order to summon and use lightning properly, you will someday have to be on the receiving end of its power, as a means of taking the energy inside yourself."

My question for this - and this is totally off-topic and i apologize for that, is does this apply to people like Revan, Kyle Katarn or other gray jedi? both have walked both sides of the force - Revan especially, both can apparently uses Force Lightning. so does this apply to them as well? or are they simply exempt of this due to having walked both sides?

They're still using the Dark Side when they create that Lightning. I'm not sure where the idea that only a Sith can conjure Lightning came from, since Jedi use it all the time outside of the OT/PT.

Isn't that Novel non-canon anyway? But indeed, I'd personally put this down to Sith arrogance. They take their lightning too seriously, Dooku thought merely learning it would be enough to challenge Yoda 🙄

But yes, he probably could have, he just doesnt ever go for the Kill. Koon and other Electric Judgement users used it because they accepted whoever they targeted needed to die, for the greater good. They were far more Grey. I don't think Yoda could ever do that...

In the EU, prolly.

In the movie-verse, no. It's pretty clear that Force lightning is a corruption of the Force, a reflection of the dark side.

But that's another example of why most of the EU sucked balls.

Its funny how you hate the EU considering you have 6k posts on a SW EU forum. 😄

What the main difference between Electric Judgement and Force Lightning?

It's called upon from a sense of justice rather than hate. It's color and effects are slightly different--It's users and targets aren't ravaged by the Dark Side, for instance.
