He wasn't far behind Fisto by this time. Fisto was faster than him and a better duelist (at this point) so he took it slightly easier on Kenobi for the sake of sparring him (Cestus Deception). Kenobi lasting as long as he did against Dooku is pretty much better than anything Aayla has accomplished. At least from what I can tell anyway.
