Hopefully, everything is going just swell in your life, and you have no need for this day. But, if problems and troubles are looming, try to hold off hitting the panic button until this day arrives.
Don't worry. Don't fret. and, above all, don't panic. However, if ever there was a day to panic, today is that day.

Johnny Appleseed Day honors one of America's great legends. Johnny Appleseed was a real person. John Chapman was among the American settlers who were captivated by the movement west across the continent. As Johnny Appleseed travelled west, he planted apple trees along the way, and sold trees to settlers. With every apple tree that was planted, the legend grew.
A Little About the Legend:
John Chapman (aka Johnny Appleseed) was born on September 26, 1774.
He was a nurseryman who started out planting trees in western New York and Pennsylvania.
During the life of John Chapman, the "West" was places like Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois.
John Chapman was a deeply religious person He was known to preach during his travels.
According to legend, Johny Appleseed led a simple life and wanted little. He rarely accepted money and often donated any money he received.
It is believed that he died on March 11, 1845, from what was referred to as the "winter plague". The actual date of his death has been disputed.
There is a lot of "legend" in stories written about Johny Appleseed. By it's definition, over the years, legends grow bigger than life. It also appears that there is some link between Johny Appleseed and very early Arbor Day celebrations.
Celebrate today with an apple rich menu. Include fresh apples for snacks, and some applesauce or apple pie for dessert. And, make plans to plant an apple tree.

There is plenty of documentation to support claims for Johnny Appleseed Day on March 11th and on September 26th. We found no one who claims to have created this special day.
So, here's the skinny on the two dates:
John Chapman was born on September 26, 1774. This date is undisputed.
It is believed he died on March 11, 1845. However, his date was not formally recorded and the date of death is disputed.
Here is how we come out on the debate: This day should be celebrated on the day of his birth. His birth date is undisputed. His birthday coincides with the season of the apple harvest. A birth is a more positive day than a death. We think Johnny would agree.
Girl Scout Day

Girl Scout Day recognizes and celebrates the Girls Scouts of the USA(GSUSA). This date celebrates the creation of the first Girl Scout group on March 12, 1912.
Lady Olave Baden-Powell, founded Girl Guides. The wife of Lord Baden-Powell (who created the Boy Scouts), she was born on February 22 (1889).
On March 12, 1912 Juliette Gordon Low started the first Girl Scout group in Savannah Georgia with 18 girls. The Girls Scouts became a national organization, and was was chartered by the U.S. Congress on March 16, 1950. Today, there are millions of girls involved with Girl Scouts.
Are you a cookie monster? Americans eagerly await the annual Girls Scout cookie drive. It teaches the girls valuable skills, and generates income to support girl scouting activities. And, you get to munch on a variety of delicious cookies. Most people buy several boxes.
Ear Muff Day

Ear Muff Day celebrates a warm invention...the ear muff! People in cold climates can really appreciate this day. And, they are ever so thankful to the person who created the ear muff. If you live in Florida, you might not even know what an ear muff is.
Ear muffs keep your ears warm, and protect you from ear infections and earaches resulting from icy cold wind and weather. Manufacturers have responded to their popularity with a variety of designs and colors, making one to fit almost anyone's personality.
It is really easy to celebrate Ear Muff Day.... just wear your ear muffs!
Origin of "Ear Muff Day":
Big-eared Chester Greenwood is the father of the Earmuff. Greenwood patented the "Champion Ear Protector" on March 13, 1877. It later became known as "ear mufflers", and was eventually shortened to "earmuffs".
We wonder... Why celebrate Ear Muff Day in March? We believe it would have been more appreciated if it was held in January or February, during the coldest days of the winter.
National Pi Day

National Pi Day celebrates Pi, a mathematical concept and a number that never ends....at least no one has found the end yet. Often, we round it off to 3.14. If you are a mathematician, this is your day. For National Pi Day is a celebration of mathematics. And, more specifically.... it celebrates "Pi".
Today is the birthday physicist Albert Einstein. Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. The date is also represented as 3.14. We strongly suspect some combination of these two facts is why someone created the day on March 14th. However, "Pi" was around long before Albert Einstein was born.
A Little Pi Day Trivia: On Pi Day 2004, Daniel Tammet recited 22,514 to digits.
Origin of "National Pi Day":
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution (HRES 224),[5] recognizing March 14, 2009 as National Pi Day.
The day was created by Larry Shaw in 1989. T he holiday was otiginally celebrated at the San Francisco Exploratorium, where Shaw worked as a physicist.
Ides of March

The Ides of March is the first day of the Roman New Year.It also marks the first day of spring in the Roman calendar.
On this day in history, Julius Caesar was warned by soothsayers to "beware of the Ides of March". Apparently, he did not heed the warning strongly enough as he was stabbed by Marcus Brutus on the Ides of March in 44 BC.

Saint Patrick's day is in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland, who brought christianity to the Emerald Isles, as Ireland is known. It is truly a day of celebrating Irish history, ancestry, traditions and customs.
Are you Irish perchance!?! Well, the saying goes everyone is a little Irish on Saint Patricks's Day.
Roots of Tradition: Saint Patrick's day is held in honor of Saint Patrick, the missionary who brought christianity to the Irish people in the 400's AD.
