Why is Darth Maul so weak?

I feel there was a lot of unused potential... he gets trashed by Sidious and humiliated by Kenobi twice. It was obvious Sidious was toying with Maul. I feel this is because Sidious is infinitely more powerful then Maul and Maul just isn't that strong. What do you think?

It's really unfortunate they brought him back only to get his ass kicked by Sids and then beg for mercy. He was cut in half by a braided padawan, there was no need to resurrect a low skill level fighter.

He's younger. Less experienced. Sidious's mastery surpassed his.

He should not have challenged his master for another decade or two.

Though he was not completely helpless against Sidious. Outmatched to be sure, but he clearly was a good deal stronger than Kolar and Tiin.

You can always come back and we can start things to how they used to be, just reconcile with Kenobi and Sith. It doesn't have to end this way, don't let this die Ant.

Just don't bring DMB back

The entire basis of trolling (well) is to be able to incite and not get banned. Resorting to extreme measures indicates lack of trolling ability.

Though to be honest, Sith is in his weakest state atm. A combined might of the Outcasts should be able to strike him down for good.

Yet it was also only said in the NOVELS that Jinn = Mace. In the same novels it's stated that Sidious >> Mace, so you argue movies > all, and inthe movies Qui Gon was obviously weaker than Mace so I dunno if that can help you.

I also strongly believe Vader = Maul who beat Qui Gon so...

Probably another 25 years+ of training before he could be on par with Sidious (if he has the potential to be such).

Although he didn't directly challenge Sidious. He wasn't stupid. Sidious just saw he was amassing too much power and decided to take him out.

Btw, Revan is non-canon and stupid character. I mean, even Darth Bane showed himself in TCW, so he is canon somehow now, but... Revan is not even exist... Sorry.

I think he was definitely trying to get Sidious's intention. Probably trying to impress him, in hopes of joining him again (like he said). But where he was being deceitful to Sidious was that he keeping his options open, and using his power base to challenge Sidious if he rejected Maul.

Darth Maul has always prized his dueling skills over his Force powers. If you want to know why he isn't as strong as he could be, it is because he devoted most of his time to learning martial arts and that left his Force powers relatively undeveloped.

If Maul was a Force wielder before a martial artist he would be extremely powerful. But alas, potential squandered IMO
