You vs 1000 rats

Obviously one rat is no threat to a human, but in numbers they could become a deadly menace.

Here are the rules:

You are alone and unarmed. You're dressed in a t-shirt and jeans. You're ready for the rats and know they're coming, and the rats are going in for the kill. You're in a house without furniture or doors to the rooms, but there is an upstairs you can access.

How many rats do you think you can defeat at one time? How many would it take to overwhelm you?

For argument's sake, the rats don't have any disease they can communicate to you.

Prolly 200-300

I should clarify that they're Norwegian brown rats, about 12 oz on average.

Lifting and bringing down each foot 500 times is easy enough, so I'm very confident that I'd demolish those rats.

But during that time rats will be swarming you. Surrounding you. Biting you. Scratching you. Climbing up your leg. Jumping at you(pretty sure they can jump). Plus all the blood would create a slipping hazard.

They can definitely jump. I've seen rats jump high and far enough to make me think that a sufficiently determined rat could probably reach your crotch in one bound.

Rats only jump as a means to escape not so much as to attack.

Maybe they'd jump at me...as a means to escape hunger! 😕
