I expressed the opinion that the crossguard (assuming it's a crossguard) makes no sense because the purpose of one is to catch the opponent's blade at the corner. the point where the blade would connect would not be on the blade portion of the hilt, but the metal. I feel that is a compelling argument. that's why I made it.

burden of proof was on me to support my own claim. it's not my obligation to disprove your every assertion as a pre-condition to my original argument being valid

If it was made with an all energy crossgaurd, then that would look silly

that blade/fire/crackle effect was quite enough to set the blade apart as cool and unique.

I would find the crossguard design much easier to digest as a fan if they had at least taken into consideration the glaring dysfunctionality of that exposed metal.

I don't think it would have looked too silly

How does this conflict with anything I've said?

It is if you're going to contest my assertions. A fact is an opinion that no one can provide a compelling counter-argument for.

look man I hate the blade. unless someone can present a new argument or new evidence/explanation on it's purpose, I can't not hate it. but don't let that ruin your own experience.

also someone made it into a chainsaw:

Warhammer 40 000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any way :

@Tzeentch : you asserted the "fact" that maul's saber was completely impractical with no evidence or reasoning to support your claim.

i'm done arguing this weird bizarro-debate with you. guess that means you're the winner and now maul's lightsaber was factually useless. is that how it works?

Can still see some hilt there.

To get technical, lightsabers so far beam out in straight lines. Would not really work without the hilt portion unless the energy/light can bend/alter paths. so, makes me think it serves other functions in combat and can still be used as a crossgaurd if held correctly in sith fashion

everyone's a photoshop critic! 😠 but yeah, I didn't bother with that part. if done correctly, there would have to some exposed area, but it could be small enough so that the blade wouldn't touch it. (circle vs 90 degree corner)

Watch it (but don't listen about the X-Wing....)

This a bit contreversial he enjoy the trailer gngné light side and the dark side....
ANd listen what he way about the fact than imperial can have protagonists.

Gnégné grey stuff equal, no bad guy good guy really...
Me too I enjoy this concept...

But honnestly I know that's not gnna to happen...

We are at the limit of the acceptable design.. Buts it's awsome. (Even if for the lateral blades it have teh same problem than The sith inquisitor light saber staff : How it's working? They could make une croix un croisementun angle droit pas laisser ce vide immonde !!!)
And I don't see any problem with the use in combat... Because she use it as traya did In fact yess but nor more than the advantages it offer...

http://richdslade.deviantart.com/ar...assin-156137761

We already have the light saber Knife.. so acceptable...

http://richdslade.deviantart.com/ar...dious-114527170

The wip is weird but Knight suister using it...

It is at the limit. It's barely accepteble to me. But it still a bit fine... Because we see the advantages than you can have in combat...

And in the same kind our last baby...
But I don't see the purpose !!! Really !!! As minimal it was those weapon are based on the awsome design but in the EU it have a purpose... Four "our last baby" not at all !!!

The metal part on the crossguard (absolutly need to generate the energetical blade and have them a bit stable...) make this cross guard useless !!

They could ad phrik pic instead of this !!! and even ad pics on the cross guard...

Like a metalic massue.. Eeer how to explain that.

Ha too late to edit.
Foudn it :
Les podracers étant des véhicules rapides (plus de 800Km/h),

800 km for a decent circuit with a good pilote with a poor pilote and bad ameliorations 600km/h.
With an amazing force user and good ameliorations 1300 easly !!

Dammit...

That design DOES look better...

And it feels more like a claymore:

Edit - I should point out that I feel that new saber is supposed to resemble a claymore and this is my reasoning with comparing it to the claymore. If this turns out to be inaccurate (meaning, it was not inspired by the claymore design), I'll abandon this idea. But, it looks like it is supposed to be an older style saber that resembles "older stile" swords from human history. I've always had that opinion of lightsabers since a small child. I guess the whole "Knight" and "code" stuff made me think those things.

Being ex-military, every time I read "claymore", I think of an exploding mine.

This picture is a remake because you have metal edge to generate the energy blade wicih is logic (if you know the history of light saber...)
But it that made the cross guard useless.

You coul replace them with conny pic made in phrik. and you can ad this kind of massue pic :
http://thejackspage.free.fr/tuto/3ds%20max/objets/massue-01.png
On thos pics...

It still looke like a claymor it's more usefull...
and if you ad the pic it can ad a vilan metal medevial style !

Alright, much as this seems to have been the main result of the trailer- though lord knows what this says about Star Wars fans- I think this is getting a bit much now. If we really want an extended debate about whether the new weapon is stupid or not, best to have its own thread.

The classic TIE Fighter designs are odd for 30 years later- not even bent wings.
