All my knowledge of the novels is second hand, but if he's even half as impressive in them as my friend told me, to say the movie(only saw the first) doesn't do him justice is putting it lightly.I don't remember the exact way he worded the feats, but D running infinite distance in..... seconds I wanna say. Yeah, seems the movie(s) toned him down a tad.
It's more than that. He forced his way through an enemies power that warped space-time(they were in space I believe) so that the distance between himself and D was infinite. D said "no it isn't", and immediately caught him as he tried to flee with simply sheer speed.
And iirc, he blocked a laser from Mars that was indeed FTL as it hit the instant after it fired.
