Gillen tried to go deep with having Vader slaughter Tuskens, yet why is that necessary. He did that in AOTC. Its showed his descent to the Dark side, and now he's their, he doesn't have to murder random people.
"Sheev too is constantly mocking him with detaills from his “past life”. His status as the Chosen One, his childhood on Tatooine — all of it. And when Vader returns to Tatooine, he takes time out of his busy schedule to massacre some Tusken Raiders. Because he’s still not over his mother’s death, and the only way he knows how to deal with his emotions now is by killing people." I think it's incredibly accurate, an I'm glad they added that scene in the comic.

I like how it ties in Jason Aaron's Star Wars though. One of the variant covers of Issue 3 has Palpatine casting lightning, so I'm hoping to god that in that issue he zaps Vader a little for failing to secure Cymoon 1, and the destruction of the Death Star. He needs a spanking.
