Besides plot, did Kryptonians have to go extinct?

Pre and Post Crisis, Golden, Silver, Bronze, Modern Ages, DCnu.

1. Was it that Krypton believed itself to be alone in the universe?

2. Were there any other inhabited planets in their solar system?

3. How/were/ why were they so unadvanced in space travel, especially in a comics setting?

4. Are there any canon stories of aliens visiting Krypton?

5. Were they isolationists like ancient Japan?

6. Were other races kept from contacting them, say by the Guardians of the Universe, who have been shown to know about Krypton in most every version of Superman?

7. If yes, then why?

1. No. Jor-El knew of atleast Earth. Stands to reason they knew of more.

2. No clue but leaning toward no.

3. They had to be very advanced to send Kal and Kara so far away accurately. They probably were just naive and thought Krypton would be ok.
