I didnt read DB magna or watch it. Ive only watched DBZ, GT, and all the movies back in the late 90's and early 2000's and seen the recent movie. I actually grew up watching them on TV.

It has been stated many times that Shenron was only as strong as his creator, which is why he couldn't kill the Saiyan's.
Shenron got killed by Demon King Piccolo, WITH ONE BLAST. He is weak sauce, bro. He's only useful for his reality altering, which is similar to a ridiculously souped up version of Orihime's reality rejection. If you just wish it, Shenron can make it so just about anything in reality is re-written. Like death, or time, or age, or really anything, OTHER than something that would require him to surpass the abilities of his creator. This implies some very if-y things about Dende, since Shenron can revive entire planets effortlessly, but it's just chocked up to PIS.

When Dende revived them, I got the impression his power got added on top of Shenron's original, hence the power increase.
