IIRC, that's the 1991 Arnold-Terminator T-800(but aged now), it was sent back further in time by J. Connor, not to protect young teen John, but to protect young Sarah when she was a child and has raised her up to the [new] present
There will also be a future-changed T-800 Terminator (Salvation variant) played by some roid-rager
So they're essentially undoing a lot that's happened in the previous Terminator films with the changed time-line, at least that's how it seems the plots works
Glad you asked, let me show some points
-It looks scarier. Time: 00:15
-Its skin took gun fire with little to no visible damage. Time: 00:18-24
-Tanked multiple grenades to the chest with little to zero damage to the chasis. Time: 03:19-25
-It was bulkier (the endoskeleton/chasis). Time: 3:27
-Covered in molten mtal and was all "meh, it's not a problem"
-Was able to do a body scan of Marcus and pinpoint his weakness (his human heart). Don't recall the 1984/91 having this ability

lol
That's because it's shitty CGI.
The original T-800 tanked an exploding lorry, so it's nothing to write home about.
1984 Arnold was bigger.
Because it was quickly cooled down.
It pulled a guy's heart out in T1.
