Managed to catch up. So yeah episode 5 was all sorts of fun.

Yeah, it does go a bit overboard sometimes, but I feel like the darker tone actually works with the story so far. At least overall.
Yeah I think the big difference between this darkness/violence of this Robin and the darkness/violence of BvS Batman is its part of the story that this Robin has issues, which is he recognises and is the reason he left Batman. Unlike BvS where him killing people was an after thought that we were just supposed to accept and think its cool.
Plus fro the latest episode its clear they are having fun with the R rating. Using it in all sorts of ways.

Yeah, agree on the contrast between Bruce and Dick. But I was also referring to how the overall tone fits into the developing plot as well, with Rachel and her father, for example.
But yeah, I agree that they are making decent use of the R-rating so far. This show feels more in line with their R-rated animated stuff (which I generally tend to enjoy) rather than anything from the recent live-action movies.
Also, I lol'd at the bit in the latest episode with Kory and the

headless bodies.

A crowbar-worthy performance.
I initially just found him kind of irritating, but that scene with the cops made me out and out dislike him.
Spoiler:
He crippled the one guy who was probably just trying to do his job. And then he uses the most horrible identity politics/collective guilt logic to justify his actions. Corrupt cops in Gotham beat you up? So what? That doesn't give you a license to maim any cop you see. Applying Todd's logic, those cops now have carte blanche to shoot any teens dressed up as superheroes first and ask questions later, based on what Todd did to them.

No, not cringe-worthy. Crowbar-worthy. Which is my point. I agree. He's a good enough portrayal that he deserves the same treatment he got in the comics. 😛
