Daredevil

Netflix still has other shows and movies that justify me keeping the subscription even if Marvel will no longer be part of their lineup, but I hear/feel ya still.

Definitely still have no desire to support the Disney streaming service after this. Have no interest in seeing them PG-13 these shows up if brought back.

Well as a Star Wars and Marvel fan I will have to sign up to it (assuming I need to in the UK).

Not gonna miss The Mandalorian or the Loki show.

But yeah you are right Netflix has plenty of quality stuff. I am just seriously butthurt right now. And confused whether I should be venting my anger at Netflix or at Disney. Im guessing the latter is probably responsible.

Just started Daredevil Season 3 Episode 1 last night.

Been looking forward to Season 3 and I expect greatness.

Assuming Daredevil and the other Marvel Netflix shows are re-released on a Disney streaming service, I’ll just wait for the Blu-ray home release.

My first impression for Episode 1 was that the nun nursing Matt back to health sure is a major b!tch. I didn't know a nun could BE such a b!tch.

This is the saddest news ive received in recent times.

I legit might cancel my Netflix subscription now. Would be fitting as well as I signed up when the first season of Daredevil was coming.

Dont really care if Marvel still use the character. Wont be the same if its PG-13. And lets not pretend Netflix had nothing to do with the quality.

It's true the Marvel shows were a big draw, but netflix is doing other things...I really enjoyed Sabrina, which surprised me. And it has a nice selection of movies and tv shows. It''s worth it for the price.

I'm honestly not sure on all the details of this new streaming service marvel has. Or is it Disney? Or both? Either way I would never wanna pay for a service just to get Marvel movies and tv shows. It would need to have a selection of movies and shows similar to netflix.

I wonder what this means for Punisher and Jessica Jones? Jessica Jones has already started production on season 3, is netflix gonna cancel it? The Punisher show is slated to get a 2nd season too, but it seems doubtful.

Its a Disney App. And they will have plenty of Disney and Fox content. Plus Star Wars and Marvel Originals.

These will probably be the last two, actually. Because Punisher is in post-production and JJ is mid-production at the moment, IIRC. They aren't going to cancel seasons they've already invested a bunch of time and money in.

Kind of depressing knowing Jessica Jones will likely close it off, given how bad season 2 was. Then again, season 1 was really good. So, maybe it can end on a high, if they can get back to that quality.

^ I think it will. Given how much Daredevil S3, Iron Fist S2 and Luke Cage S2 improved. They seem to improve things or get them back to their S1 level.

Who knows how long it will take Perlmutter and Feige to reintroduce the character. Meanwhile we got dogshit GOTG films and the tone of the show at risk being emasculated to fit the family friendly aesthetic

These two shows will almost definitely be canceled, but after the upcoming seasons get released.

The Disney service is going to be Disney plus Marvel plus Star Wars, like a one stop shop. They also have a lot of potentially really good original shows that will be airing like the Loki show, the Winter Soldier show, and The Mandalorian. Along with Disney's entire back catalog of animated films, Pixar films, and so on. It will probably be a really cool service, honestly, especially since they're saying it will be priced lower than Netflix.

Its a given at this point that Punisher and JJ will get cancelled after their next seasons are done.

It’s sad how this gets cancelled meanwhile dogshit like AOS gets renewed. The MCU clearly has to be PG13 and sanitized

Disney owns abc, that's why AOS isn't getting canceled.

So latest rumour is that this was actually the 4th most watch show on Netflix and that Marvel were the ones to cancel it.

I dont suppose Marvel would be able to bring the same show back without rebooting? Maybe put it on Hulu? They will own the majority shareholding in Hulu after the Fox merger.

They could put it on Hulu for sure, but yeah I dunno, they wouldn't have access to the first three seasons, those will remain on Netflix for many years. I think, sadly, the most likely thing to happen is some kind of a reboot for all the shows with new actors and tones. The only one I could conceivably see continuing is probably Punisher because I wouldn't be shocked if Disney doesn't really want anything to do with that character what with the violence that is inherent to him. Though even that I think is unlikely.

This would not actually surprise me. A LOT of people said DD was the main reason a lot of them had Netflix, and was one of the main shows they always looked forward to when new seasons came out. And this is people from average audience to quite well-known critics (like Jeremy Jahns) saying the same thing.

And, based on what some people (including others on this forum) have said, Netflix pretty much buried S3 when it came out, as there was minimal advertising in a lot of places. Which is odd for such a popular show that attracts so many people. Doesn't make sense if there isn't more going on behind the scenes. Especially when some of the other shows got cancelled on S3's release day.

If they reboot and recast it into some shitty PG-13 reboot with a new set of actors, then count me out.

But of course, Marvel won't give a flying shit if they lose 5 million core Netflix MCU fans if they gain 10 million snot-nosed kids to not only watch the shows on their streaming service but buy MCU Defenders toys as well. And probably Quan.

Seems it isn't just a rumour about DD's popularity. Multiple sites have been reporting the ratings now, and the show was seemingly killing it.

I am pretty sure the drop-off they claimed occurred in the first week was largely due to the terrible lack of advertising. Because the show apparently had nearly 30 million demand expressions in the week it got the axe. So, clearly once people found out it was released, they quickly flocked to it again.

But the powers at be don't care. As popular and critically acclaimed as DD was, it was just one out of many popular live action properties Marvel/Disney have.

Also S2 wasnt as great as some people make out IMO. Which is another reason why there may have been that first week drop off.

But then Word of Mouth on how fantastic S3 is must have spread.

This is just a big shame all around. This had just become my favourite superhero show. But in the end its just too short and without a satisfying ending.
