I doubt the CW has an unlimited budget. SG's not a cheap show, and even CW has its limits on how many viewers an expensive show can survive on. Legends of tomorrow is surviving on less viewers for now, but I'm sure it's not as expensive as Supergirl, and at least that show isn't dipping in ratings every week.

SG's S1 drop on CBS was just as bad as AOS's S1 drop on ABC. But obviously AOS didn't make a move to a tiny network like CW for S2.

CW did save almost all of the shows that aired this past season or gave them summer orders. Taking that into account, Supergirl would have to actively screw up in order for the network to consider not renewing it. Especially since this show has possibly the best time slot and budget: the latter being suspect due to the crappy effects that were on CBS.

AOS has Disney money so I'm pretty sure it was safe from the beginning. Still it's telling that this didn't even get back 1/3 of its average viewership back with the move.

Well I think SG has the opposite problem to AOS. Where AOS had good season plots, the characters mostly sucked so you couldn't care less. But it got a lot better when they massively improved on the main cast.

SG has great characters. Kara is great, MMH is great, Cat Grant is great and now Superman/Clark is great. It just needs a better plot and throw out most the cheesiness. Oh and it could do with a really good villain. If it sorts out those things it would also become a far better show.

Bear in mind I've only seen the first 2 episodes of S2.

Metallo was poorly done which was the main reason the first fights were kinda laughable. The action gets a little better afterward though (didn't realize one of the aliens was Draaga or notice the War World references at first), but hope whoever the main villain is this season turns out better, or at least as well portrayed as the heroes.

Another great episode. I am wondering if we might see a new Superman Series.

The new Superman is great. But imagine that, Superman being a Supergirl spin off series 😱

They did, in between when they didn't.

Maybe they were playing red light/green light.

Also, way too much drama. Some is to be expected, but now we've got a straight/gay romance narrative, a Daxamite gigolo (Sure, it was mostly funny in a romantic comedy way..), Jimmy randomly wanting to be a superhero for no good reason, and a bunch of gun control political soap boxing (To replace the immigrant soap boxing.) And a self hating "white" martian.

I get if you're not on Netflix, you need to pander, but now it's taking over the show.

I actually liked Jimmy trying to be his own man rather than continue to hide behind a camera, tbh. See what ya mean on the other stuff though.

Taking it with a grain of salt, but I heard from someone that the Metallo on the first couple episodes was only a prototype, and that we'll get the real thing whose mostly metal looking later on. Hope that's true. If it is I'll feel better about Cyborg Superman.

tbqh white martians are horrible ✅
