"Bad Ammo"

You are right, I don't think the people that are against citizens having guns are usually the people that want a more militarized police force though.

From my experience, neither anti-gun American liberals nor pro-gun conservatives are for the further armament and militarization of the police forces.

A quick run down through my Facebook friends and I can see plenty of anti-Police State and anti-"Police on citizen violence" from both my liberal friends and conservative friends.

Now, this does not mean my friend's list on Facebook is indicative of the average liberal and average conservative in the US. Of course, I may have a selection bias when it comes to my Facebook friends. But I highly doubt I have a selection bias.

I get to hear and read about very conservative and religious beliefs all the time from American conservatives (Mormons and Christian Evangelicals: so many in Oklahoma). More so than any other group, religious conservatives are strongly opposed to a police state. I believe this has a bit to do with the religious belief of free will/freedom that is part of their beliefs. This is also why they are strongly opposed to the NSA activities. But, and this runs counterintuitive to my previous statements, they seem to be more pro-war. That's so completely ****ing stupid. Did Jesus stutter? What about turn the other cheek do they not understand?

The thing is, I don't believe at all that the military-esque arming of these police forces is anything to do with conspiracy against the citizens or even a police state. I think it's simply a genuinely believed in initiative to help fight crime- one that is spectacularly inappropriate, ill-considered and counter-productive, but not part of any bigger programme.

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or start a new thread but it seemed like putting it here was the proper thing since it's related to topic:

Where did he get that number from? I think that is something like 50-100 times all violent crime put together for a year.

Maybe they're double or triple counting incidents where 2 or 3 NRA members get into a Mexican standoff with each other.

Okay apparently I misremembered as Violent crime which is including aggravted Assault, Homicide, Rape, and Robbery comes out to between 1.15 and 1.175 million a year according to fbi.gov. So the numbered quoted is still almost twice what the total violent crime per year in the USA is at.

So I'm still wondering how they got it?

True perhaps they are going off a weird survey where people are asked if they defended themselves with a firearm. In which case I would find that number highly suspect.

I'm telling you, most of those cases are probably gunowners drawing on their buddies and vice versa.

I don't have any statistics for this, but my gut feeling is that you've a better chance of being shot in the woods by your drunk hunting buddy than you do of being shot by a criminal.

Edit: Looked it up, never mind. Hunting's actually pretty safe...when I'm not around, lol.

I think it is a 25% chance that if you are going to get killed it wil lbe by a family member and it something like 45-50% likely that if you are killed it is by someone you know.

Check out this BS. The VA has turned on veterans:

I know Obama is behind this. I can't believe I told people they were overreacting when they said he should've been impeached a long time ago. Now, I think the "traitor-in-Chief" should be ASAP. **** you, Obama. You muslim p-o-s traitor.

As a matter of principle it seems like an unfair, pointless policy, but hardly grounds to talk of impeachment, especially since you have no proof Obama is actually behind this.

After what happened in Ferguson and Baltimore, there is going to be more of a rush to own guns. I know some of the black community won't like that because some of their peeps are going to get shot dead breaking into peoples homes and in other types of crimes in progress and are going their best to rid gun ownership. As far as the VA case, anyone diagnosed with mental illness or disability, usually the local sheriff is notified and a search for guns in their home takes place. There is due process, but right now that order is for 10 years no gun ownership is allowed. Of course, folks can always appeal and go through the court process to and have their rights reinstated. It is more of a cart blanche protective measure, but yeah it seems to be over cautious in nature to protect society.

I'm even more convinced now that martial law will be declared in the near future. As I've said in numerous threads already, anyone who can"t see that this country is becoming more and more like a police state is blind and naïve.

So before the end of 2015?

For anyone who is interested in impeaching the "traitor-in-chief" :

When I discovered that it took me about a thousandth of a second to sign it. 🙂
