Now that we've had the reveal of this seasons Big Bad I'm hoping this goes goes up a few gears now. This show was easily the best of the CW shows last year and I expect it to be again (Flash, Arrow and Supergirl have all been a bit dull so far this season). Was talking with a friend in work about that 'Return of the Mack' song today so I was quite amused to hear it feature so prominently in the episode.

Back in the day, women could be as bloodthirsty as men. And Helen is known for being bloodthirsty (And bald, but that's beside the point.)
Quite a few wives pressed their husbands to assassinate Ceasers and such, because of a perceived slight to their social standing.. But yeah CW, gotta stay within the pc lines..
That is actually an extremely good point. Sara, 90% of the time, is the most lecherous one of the lot, and is often the one busy flirting or stealing kisses from someone. Yet she was totally unaffected. But nope, this clearly was not a unique case, and all men are just idiots who are chomping at the bits to go part Harvey Weinstein part Genghis Khan on people.

Also, Zari wasnt wrong about men finding a reason to fight, just very smug about it.
Still, whats the fun if every character just partots your own viewpoint? Personally i dont like her at all, but i didnt mind her comment, it fit her personality.

If it was just a character's personality trait, then sure, it wouldn't be an issue. But all the others were awfully quick to jump on the "men are violent, horny idiots" bandwagon, like Sara chirping how "men haven't learned anything in thousands of years", and then proceeds to fall for Darhk's game yet again, nearly getting herself killed in the process. And as I pointed out, none of the male Legends normally act that way (except Mick, when it comes to fighting), while Sara is normally the more forward one, so this was very clearly not a typical case.
And taken as a whole, with comments dropped on other episodes of this show, The Flash etc. and it is no longer just a character's personality. It becomes a narrative being pushed by the writers. And it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when all I want to do is watch a silly show about comic book characters.

Actually, i feel that way about CWs upcoming Black Lightning, just based on the synopses i've read.

Honestly, I kind of envy your more laid back attitude. But when I see this kind of thing, it bugs me. Because I know that if the gender roles were reversed, and it was a bunch of negative female stereotypes being perpetuated by male characters, the feminists would have an absolute field day. And justifiably so, because it should not be happening, period. But when it is done against men, it is almost framed as a positive, empowering thing.
And from what I heard, the current Black Lightning comic run is heavy anti-police propaganda, so I wouldn't be surprised if the tv show ends up being similar. The first trailer looked super preachy, which kind of killed my interest a bit.

Nah, there are a few dicks on this site, but I definitely don't consider you one of them.
And yeah, that's pretty much why these kinds of comments in these shows bug me. They're supposed to be fun entertainment. Something you watch to get away from all the political and social crap various individuals and groups try and push. But looks like even worlds where telepathic gorillas and mutant shark men run around aren't free from it.

I do actually watch that, and I like the show overall. Because there, when political or social ideas are addressed, it doesn't feel slanted to one side or another as much as the CW stuff does. Instead it lets you engage and consider things for yourself. I mean sure, it might poke fun at a few concepts, but it is done in a more lighthearted way. Which is also likely why there is such a discrepancy between the "critic" and viewers approval numbers.
Where, here, it comes across as intentionally mean-spirited. To me at least.
