Regular Joe's or professional players?
It can't really be the former since CSGO is as played, if not moreso on average, than its ever been.
If you're talking pro players, then yeah there have been a fair amount to make the switch, same goes for Overwatch to Valorant. It's appealing to transition from an established game to a new game as a pro player because you can dominate until people really figure it out. The scene is dominated by ex CS and OW pros.
Even then, the viewership numbers from pro games don't indicate Valorant has dented CSGO much.
Debating starting Valorant or Rocket League.
What can I expect in terms of early win/loss crap? Because tbh, I'm not the best at fps's. Not the worst either, but I'm not a robot who could snap to the barely visable pixel off in the distance and headshot, as I've seen some gamers do when following them in game.
Never played Valorant but Rocket League is amazing.
It's easy to play but very hard to master...but it does a good job on putting you into games of similar skill. With cross play and now being free, there is a ton of people so it's easy to get into a game.
Key thing I know is to not follow the ball look a pack of school children.
Yeah. It can be.
I find Rocket League that best representation of videogame resembling a sport. Yes, its cars hitting a ball....and there is simulation sport games.
Yes, you have crazy double jump, air juggling craziness...but the idea on 3vs3 where you rotate and be in the right positions, it's basically how a game like soccer or hockey are....
My top five favorite games of all time (and all of which i still play every other year or so, to this day) would be, in no particular order:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
Pokemon Crystal.
7 Days to Die.
Dungeon and Dragons on Gameizmo
Hitman 2 (not liking as much I thought I would)
Outlast 2 (i played it a couple of years ago and didn't like as much as the first...never finished it..it was annoyingly hard....now it seems a bit easier after patches)
Desperados 3 (seems OK..not played much)
Outriders (scratching the loot shooter itch but its janky a bit)
And now going to start RE8.
Finished up Dying Light after finding it on sale. It was a bit more enjoyable at a steep discount. I think it would have worked better in third person. I really don't like melee focused things in first person. Or platforming for that matter. There's a reason fighting games, action brawlers/beat 'em ups, and platformers are almost entirely 3rd person as genres.
Also started the Azure Striker Gunvolt series, but Resident Evil 8 will probably will be my main game for the next little while.

Dying Light was just added to MS FPS boost system....which made me think about replaying that game.
I played Dying Light for a bit but never got into it (rented...)...then I bought it cheap and it drew me inn for months the second time. It was a pretty fun game.
