Not far off from where Selina's scarlet red boot was getting to know the faces of several street thugs, a man sat at a large series of computer screens. The light's flashing and whirling from the banks of monitors the only light in the darkness of what was presumably a vast room. A man sat at the viewscreens, grumbling to himself. He wore a dark violet hood pulled over his head, flowing into a cape behind him. He typed endlessly a series of codes and numbers into several different keyboards on the desk in front of him.
A series of blinking lights were displayed on what looked like a global satellite map of Metro City. The Hood stared at this map intently, got up from his chair and approached it. A gloved hand rubbed the screen as he counted the small glowing yellow dots that were blinking intermittently.
6 dots on the screen. Some of them moving, others still. The Enhanced. The Hood had studied them from afar, in secret. His fallen "allies" in the fight against crime always considered him paranoid. Dangerous. But in the end, HE was the only one left. And now he needed to establish another power in the city. To protect those who found themselves with no protectors.
Speakers were crackling with sound. The Hood had been trained to pick out audio from a thousand different places, and could listen to multiple police reports at once. He picked up the voices of Officers Reynolds and Mac. When they marked their locations over their communications with dispatch, he turned back to his map of enhanced, alarmed.
They were heading towards one of The Hoods blinking yellow dots. E-101. The dot that represented Cecily. Concerned, he began preparations for extraction. His dead friends would have called his extractions "invasive" but they were dead now. They were all dead. And if he didn't act soon -
Suddenly a strange beep came from that GPS sat-map of the City. Next to E-101, another light began to blink. This one red. Who the hell? An unmarked Enhanced in Metro City? And they were right on top of E-101.
The Hooded Man punched a series of keys into a key-pad in the corner of his desk, and waited...
-------------------------
Officer Mac's rigid cold pistol raised to Cecily's forehead. The man behind the eyes felt his new face grow hot. He flashed with anger. Here he was, not quite in the flesh, and Cecily was speechless. In his moment of triumph, she wouldn't even utter a cry of pain or fear. Well, before he was done with her, she'd know fear.
"You can play it cool all you want. I've seen you at your worst. I've seen sides of you that would shock you now. And now I've got you here. He isn't here to protect you anymore. And she's dead, too. Do you know what she said, before I stabbed her through her heart?" The man in the body of Officer Mac asked, growing more vicious as he spoke.
"She told me she loved-"
Suddenly, Cecily was engulfed in a blue light. It surrounded her like an aura, and in a flash, she was gone.
The man Officer Mac's body screamed - not physically - but inside this hijacked mind. Realizing the futility of staying here, he gave Officer Mac his body back.
When Mac regained consciousness, he surveyed the scene. His partner was riddled with blood and bullets. The girl, the young suspect was gone. He went to the lifeless body of his partner and could only manage an agonized moan, clutching his brother, his partner, his friend....

Back in The Hood's dwelling, a silver stage platform began to glow. It roared to life, and as the room grew slightly hotter from the power, a sudden flash of blue light showed off the entirety of The Cave. A number of assorted vehicles and display cases were visible for just a moment, and then a young girl was kneeling on the platform itself.
It was Cecily.
The Hood didn't speak to her, merely turned his back on her. He typed another series of commands into his computer.
Considering he brought one here, he'd have to bring the others as well.
The Silver stand lit again, and soon, a small group of heroes would be plucked from their lives against their will, with no warning. Transported directly to The Hood...
