Yep, so people laugh at Voldemort being "defeated" by Harry, but he was somewhat of a magical prodigy. It's just he didn't have a personality like Dumbledore or Hermoine that made him care a lot about learning more and more spells, etc.
Though of course it still mostly came down to luck and a stupid villain.

He never defeated him. Wand shenanigans is what killed Voldemort. The other time Harry beat him...I assume you mean when he was a baby, but that wasn't Harry beating him. His dead parents quite literally save him numerous times from Voldemort. This wouldn't need to be a thing that happens if Harry could legitimately defeat him.
