Thor's the more prominent god in the marvel universe, more powerful, from a similar pantheon and the same universe. And his divine essence/godly status has been the subject of many hyperbolic statements and feats.
There also seems to be very common nominators with divine beings in the Marvel universe. They can all be targeted by the god-bomb, they can all be detected by the chaos-king or demogorge.
