Culture vs Terrorism

I've been doing a lot of thinking about the often denied benifits of colonization and the influence of western style Goverment on the pacific islands.

Do you believe the pros of western nations forming territories in the Arab world and "ruling" them? Before we get someone talking about the slave trade, no... The nations would be under the same laws as the nation that claimed it.

Just a thought I've been having.

If you say no though, do you believe western nations have the right to claim artifacts from "cultural heritage sites" before ISIS destroys them?

I don't know about your first question, but I would say yes they should be able to claim artifacts if they know ISIS intends to destroy them. Though they certainly have no right to keep them forever, but temporarily until they can give them back to whichever people the artifacts belong to in the first place(once they find a more secure place for them). I can't see how anyone could have a problem with that, because the alternative is them being utterly destroyed and desecrated by a bunch of cowards from ISIS.

I will say though when it comes to ruling..we have enough trouble running our own country. We don't need to add even more for us to rule until we can competently run our own country.

nuts

"you believe western nations have the right to claim artifacts from "cultural heritage sites" before ISIS destroys them?"

well i do like my oil middle eastern style.

under the same laws as the nations who claimed it, well i would like to see more education for women. i think here the problem would be religion against religion. anyway a large amount of middle eastern folks blame the western countries for interference and causes of civil wars.

i honestly see this as a plan that would go balls up and the australian soldiers would be continually sent in to the middle east which is a big NO NO from me

For ever women who wants education 5 more don't, it's a cultural thing and we just can't beat it in our current mindset.

Worst thing that ever happened to the Middle East since the rise of Islam, BY FAR was the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and its replacement by a European system of mandates. It imposed boundaries and nationality on disparate tribes and peoples who had previously only known Ottoman dominion and the rule of the Sultan (who, we must remember, was the spiritual successor to the caliph and thus considered by Muslims to be the living inheritor of the prophet)

As for Palmyra, all the removable things have already been sent to Damascus. What remains (structures, heavy sarcophagi, pillars) can't be transported, so talk of "claiming artifacts" is moot. To secure the city you'd have to send troops in, and that would probably damage the archaeological sites.

One other thing: there's no way in Hell you can seriously compare Polynesians to Arabs culturally. There are more differences between them than there are between Arabs and Westerners.
