Sepp Blatter Plans to Give Up FIFA Presidency

Thank God is all I can say, maybe there's hope yet for the sport.

I wasn't following all the controversy, what did he do?

I think that was planned.

Planned to get elected and then to step down to show that even in a seemingly democratic system where he gets elected, he can still choose a more ethical decision that goes towards making reputational* amends for FIFA.

*Reputational Risk is a real thing. Staying in power was probably reviewed and "PR"d in a dark room. And the best way to assess and accept "reputational risk" was to have him get elected and then step down. They are looking for maximum reptuation repairing actions.

Yeah, I think he's trying to minimize the fallout if/when it comes to light how involved he's been in all the scandals. This way he can prepare himself and get out while the getting's good.

In the very best case scenario, he did nothing personally criminal, but presided for more than a decade over a cesspool of corruption and either turned a blind eye to it or was legitimately unaware it was going on under his nose.

In the worst case scenario, he's an international supercriminal who makes corrupt deals with dictatorships to increase his own personal power and fortune.

Ha!

Probably true, though.

🙁

Seems like a set-up from a corrupt organization, where by appearances he can leave on his own terms and not as the former long-term president who couldn't win another term because he's a complete shitbag.

Soo.....Tony Blair to replace him then. I hear he's available after his successful stint as Middle East Peace Envoy.

I know I breathed a sigh relief when I saw this..or at least I would of if I cared at all about soccer. Funny name though, Sepp Blatter, heh.
