Let me elaborate on how I see it.The choke was by surprise, but it is a clear indicator of a strength discrepancy. Since Monet is limited to melee, these days especially, I think it shows that Amora would wreck her. That seems like it was the intent behind that, and Monet resorting to a surprise dive bomb later.
The author did show the entire confrontation though. Amora never used a spell on Monet. If magic was supposed to be Amora's saving grace, they did a terrible job of demonstrating that. It is also possible Monet's pride is causing her to make excuses for her loss.
No, he didn't. How can you say that? That was snapshots of the fight at best, which again involved at least another, if not ther rest of the ladies in the room. You see her diving down with Amora, then all of a sudden Amora is up standing in the shadows while Monet continues to fight another opponent. And again, why does she mention she needs to be better going up against a magic wielder? This is a lady with a 196 IQ making this statement. I believe magic was used, if not simply to teleport. And I think it was depicted terribly if the purpose was to show exactly how the fight went down, but I don't think it was. This fight was part of a was a story.
By the way, how are you ignoring the FACT that Monet severely injured Amora, didn't injure herself and said inches from her face that she was holding back, then Amora calls her a goddess? That all for show?
