Don't forget what thread you're in. The Martian (book and movie) could practically be a comedy.

I'm sure I laughed or chuckled at the appropriate times, or at least realized that something was an attempt at humor. I'm not Kaz, afterall. But I didn't like the movie at all. Not my kind of space exploration sci-fi. I'll grant that it had some original ideas, because that is what Nolan does, but to me it wasn't packaged in an entertaining or appealing way. It felt way too focused on the conceptual and not enough on the fact that it is supposed to be engaging and entertaining.
