Final Fantasy VII Remake

I remember people in this forum and elsewhere complaining about the outdated turn-based system used by older JRPGs, and how it shouldn't be used in newer RPGs.
Now, people are complaining about FFVII using real-time combat instead of turn-based.

Newgunners, make up your mind.

Looks like this game will NOT be turn-based.

I blame Mass Effect, Fable, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DnD/MMORPGs, FPSs, and the new-gen PG gamers with attention spans of a 10-year-old.

Having to react to threats and use strategy to defeat foes in real time requires more attention than doing it when your enemy politely waits his turn to retaliate.

Git gud scrub.

I fucking lost it when this was announced. Actually stood up and started shouting.

I honestly thought nothing could come close to FO4's announcement and I was miserably wrong.

Sad thing is this will still be bought by millions of FF posers/bandwagoners.

I would have preferred retaining the combat system, but if they can make a good real time one, then I won't mind.

Emphasis on "good".

Square Enix should remake FFVI. God Kefka in glorious HD.

Back when Advent Children came out, all I wanted was an HD remake of the game.

Now, I'm rather indifferent. I don't really want to buy an expensive system for one game, and the original has a low-res charm about it.

Looks cool. I'm glad to see an updated combat system.

It seems to trend more to KH than XIII, which is good. I wonder if the character switching will function like it did in XII.

Combat looks good. I hope they don't make Cloud into an emo edgelord like they did in everything other than the actual original game though.

No, not really. I was playing through it a few months ago and he's pretty upbeat and chill at least up to where I am.

Nice graphics, not sold on the combat though.
