Well according to Nick Gillard (and to some extent the ROTS novel), they Both knew each other's moves so well, that neither could penetrate the other's defenses. (Well not without making a stupid decision of a leap anyway).

Yeah, because this Season is supposed to be 'Empire Strikes Back' themed, I'm expecting more use of imagery that's reminiscent of that film.
