Not really. Sure, there was a shit ton of merchandise but had Lucas truly wanted to milk the franchise he could do what Disney is doing right now.

Minor direct to TV films aren't much... And there were very few. Comparatively, Disney is churning out film after film after film every single year. The milking is on a far larger scale then ever before.

I like how you're trashing Disney for "milking" the franchise and yet your avatar is of said "milking" movies.

Fact is, it's not MILKING the franchise if the movies actually turn out to be good. Look at how many Star Trek movies there are. Not many of them are actually good. Star Wars has 4 good movies and a couple bad to decent ones.
