^ Think it's a little better than that.
There's always the potential later for a Lando solo film. That's probably as good as getting cast as the Miles Morales Spider-Man which he was trying to do for a long time.
Edit- Tbh I think a Lando film featuring Han and Chewie would have been a more creative move for Lucasfilm, instead of just focusing more on the top main characters of the franchise. But of course a Han Solo movie is the safer bet for them.

imho anything involving already existing storylines is uncreative, and i really don't think that lando's back story would be very exciting. (losing the millennium falcon to gambling, becoming leader of a gas mining facility, and being an avid cock-blocker are pretty much his most significant resume bullet-points so far.) i want to see a stand-alone story instead of one prequel after another.

They need the confidence to believe the mass audience would be interested in that first.

Wouldn't KOTOR be kind of COMPLICATED to try and make into a movie?

Of course they CAN do it. Question for Disney/Lucasfilm is whether audiences would be interested.. Is it just about Jedi, Sith, Lightsabers and Bounty Huntets to them? Or is it about the Skywalkers, Yoda, Kenobi, Han Solo, the Millenium Falcon, Vader, Palpatine and R2/D2, and all the other classic characters which George created so long ago..
On the other hand I guess if you're going to do Spin Off films every other year then it's only logical to take risks and see what works.
Originally posted by Darth ThorIt would be great to see a movie completely divorced from the Star Wars connected universe set in the distant past that still incorporates the things we love about Star Wars. And it's possible the new characters introduced like darth revan maybe become just as iconic and loved as Luke and Vader but for a new generation.

I guess the best parrelel to draw for a KOTOR movie is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?

I think the difference there is that the Harry Potter series is finished, and they don't have many options on how to continue it. Still I've heard they are including characters like Dumbledore to bridge that gap.
With SW though it's a choice for Disney between "safer" bets like Han Solo or Yoda spin off's vs the risk of making films with completely new characters and stories and in another generation.
I agree with you though that new material would be better, as it can expand the Universe and they might become just as Iconic over time. Not too sure about Kotor specifically though I've never even played those games, and never really got into that period. I was more into The Force Unleashed. But hey, it's as good as an idea as any I guess.
